Ranked choice, except where it isn't.
Maine uses ranked-choice voting for its federal races but not for governor, and with a credible independent in that race, the difference could decide it. An open governor's office, the Collins seat, and both House districts, with nobody telling you how to vote.

The strongest case for each side
For every race, the best honest argument each way. Equal space, no endorsement.
The ranked-choice split, explained
Federal races here are ranked choice. The governor's race is plurality: most votes wins, even under 50%. With an independent polling around 9%, that math matters.
Why the federal races are in here
Maine elects one statewide officer. The attorney general, secretary of state, and treasurer are picked by the Legislature, and judges are appointed.
Sourced, not spun

U.S. House · District 2

Is it partisan?
No. PolitiGeist is independent and makes no endorsement in any race. The point is the strongest case for both sides.
Why does it include federal races?
Because Maine's governor is its only statewide elected officer. The attorney general, secretary of state, and treasurer are elected by the Legislature, and judges are appointed. A statewide-only guide would be one race.
Are there ballot questions?
Not this year. No statewide referendum questions were certified for the November 2026 ballot.
