The strongest case for each side
For all eight races, the best honest argument each way. Equal space, no endorsement.
How the Senate race got here
Lindsey Graham won his June primary and died in July. His sister, Darline Graham, was appointed to the seat, then won a special primary and runoff for the nomination. Whoever wins in November will be the first woman elected to the Senate from South Carolina.
Two offices shaped by accounting errors
A $1.8 billion error in the Treasurer's office, and a $3.5 billion error behind the last Comptroller General's resignation. We explain what each one actually was.
Sourced, not spun
Every factual claim is tied to reporting and official records, listed at the back.
